Nice photo! Apparently a lot of folks who left comments like the shadow effect.... However, If you're really interested in showing the eyes there are several techniques that can help you. First it would be best to shoot when the light is better, instead of overhead; this is considered harsh light. Earlier in the day or later either one would have softer light. Second you have a couple options on how to work with the available light. You can use a reflector or two(usually requires a little help) although there would more than likely still be the shadow on the neck and shoulders. Third, you could use the built in flash for fill light(a speedlight would be more powerful) Fourth, you could use a combination of three and four. Fifth, you can empasize the eyes by turning the subject away from the sun so that you expose in the shadow(sun on his back), or opposite of this turn him to face the sun(considered not nice and the potential for squinting is multiplied).
Thankz for takin a look and for the message. I in fact darkened the eyes, I was was just making a sort of joke with the shadowed eyes in the description. Many of my images have this effect but I don't think many people noticed it till i pointed it out I usually used my external flash for the fill though. It works wonders
